双红会前Xabi on Klopp, Henderson, United, biggest game

Video:Xabi on Jordan, United and Jürgen内容,及官网上两篇文字稿

Xabi on Jürgen Klopp

...Socially, I think that he was a big boost for the club for the city - that such a prestigious manager wanted to manage Liverpool. I think that give the people a lot of pride knowing, recognising  how special is the club. I think he's embraced the culture of Liverpool the tradition but as well the hunger to deliver and to make something important.

Xabi on Jordan Henderson

...it looks like he's taken the leading role in the changing room. After Stevie, he got the captain’s armband and he wanted to try to continue what they did, and he’s managing it so far. He has so much energy and he plays well and he's very complete. Not just as a holding midfielder, he's able to get closer to the box. He's becoming a very important player.

Xabi on playing United

...in terms of tradition and a big clash. Liverpool against Manchester United was our big game of the season, whenever they were coming to Anfield or whenever we had to go to Old Trafford, because the two crowds was so... the tention between them was so strong that you could feel it on the pitch.

Xabi on the biggest game in world football?

In each country it is different, but it is difficult to rate. The Clasico is the Clasico and in Germany it is so important to play against Dortmund. When we go to Dortmund, it is a fantastic stadium and the crowd is great for them. So it's difficult to rate. But, for sure, all three games are so special. When you come onto the pitch and hear the noise, you say ‘wow!’ That motivates you - ‘I want to play this game!’

Xabi on winning the title

Why not? It's gonna be difficult. Because you know City they could run that they have found [how] to win in such a short time. They look very stable very reliable. But Liverpool as well. Still many points to play so hopefully[...].

Xabi: I’ll be watching ‘special’ Liverpool v United game

Sam Williams(@SamWiIliams)

Xabi Alonso will be tuning in to watch the latest edition of a ‘special’ fixture between Liverpool and Manchester United tomorrow night.

Jürgen Klopp’s side resume their thus-far impressive Premier League campaign after the international break when they host Jose Mourinho’s team at Anfield.

Midfielder Alonso lined up for the Reds against United seven times during his five-season spell on Merseyside and is a man who knows a thing or two about arch-rivalries, having also represented Real Madrid in El Clasico and his current club Bayern Munich against Borussia Dortmund.

And the Spanish playmaker will be keeping an eye on matters at Anfield on Monday evening from afar.

“I look out for most of the games but this one especially because of how big it is, the build-up and what it means for both clubs to be successful after 90 minutes, to be the winners,” Alonso told Liverpoolfc.com.

“It’s so important for both teams. It’s still early days in the season but it can be a very, very important game.

“That’s a big one in terms of tradition and a big clash. Liverpool against Manchester United was our big game of the season, whenever they were coming to Anfield or whenever we had to go to Old Trafford, because the tension between the two crowds was so strong you could feel it on the pitch.”

When asked to compare the rivalry between Liverpool and United with those he has experienced elsewhere, Alonso replied: “In each country it is different, it is difficult to rate. The Clasico is the Clasico and in Germany it is so important.

“When we go to Dortmund, it is a fantastic stadium and the crowd is great for them. It’s difficult to rate. But, for sure, all three games are so special. When you come onto the pitch and hear the noise, you say ‘wow!’ That motivates you - ‘I want to play this game!’”

The World Cup-winner added: “These kinds of games, anyone can win. Maybe Liverpool are in a better position and maybe favourites, but it doesn’t matter.

“United still have great players and a good team. This game is so important for them because they don’t want the gap to be bigger. It’s going to be a good one to watch.”

Xabi Alonso hails 'very complete' Jordan Henderson

Sam Williams(@SamWiIliams)

Jordan Henderson’s adaption to his new position at the base of Liverpool’s midfield has impressed one of his illustrious predecessors in the role, Xabi Alonso.

Alonso is a master of the art of playmaking from deep, with the Spaniard still operating as the fulcrum of Bayern Munich’s midfield at the age of 34 having also shone in the position for the Reds, Real Madrid and his country throughout a glittering career.

Henderson predominantly played in a more advanced position for Liverpool before Jürgen Klopp moved him at the beginning of this season, and the boss’ decision has been rewarded with an excellent start to the campaign from his captain.

The 26-year-old is set to lead the Reds out against Manchester United tomorrow night, and Alonso has spoken of his admiration for the current incumbent of the No.14 shirt he wore with such distinction at Anfield.

“It’s not just the performances on the pitch, from the outside it looks like he has taken the leading role in the changing room,” Alonso told Liverpoolfc.com.

“After Stevie [Gerrard], he got the captain’s armband and he wanted to try to continue what they did, and he’s managing it so far. With Klopp and Lucas [Leiva] as well, he’s doing well.

“Jordan has so much energy, he plays well and he’s very complete. Not just as a holding midfielder, he’s able to get closer to the box. He’s becoming a very important player.”

On the demands of playing as a team’s deepest midfielder, Alonso explained: “You need to adapt to your team and teammates, and the opponent as well.

“It’s different when you play a game against a team that tries to play or a team that wants to play long balls and you need to be more focused on the second ball or try to be more physical.

“The more complete you are, the better you will adapt for the long season. Henderson does it very well.”

Alonso also voiced his belief that Klopp is a perfect fit for Liverpool, a club he regards as ‘special’.

“Not just the few games this season but last year, not just in terms of football but socially. He was a big boost for the club and the city - that such a prestigious manager wanted to manage Liverpool,” he continued.

“That gave the people a lot of pride, recognising how special the club is. He has embraced the culture of Liverpool, the tradition but also the hunger to deliver and do something important.

“They are playing very well. They are finding how they want to play and they are so enjoyable to watch. They are playing great games and they have beaten Arsenal and Chelsea in London.”
